East St. Louis Community College Center (ESLCCC) hosts satellite campuses for Illinois community colleges in East St. Louis. Students can take community college classes in their own city at the East St. Louis Higher Education Campus, located at 601 James R. Thompson Blvd. ESLCCC opened in January 1999 on the former Metropolitan Community College site after MCC was closed for irregularities by the Illinois Community College Board. The center is run by the Southern Illinois Collegiate Common Market (SICCM), a group that includes five southern Illinois community colleges and the Southern Illinois University campuses in Carbondale and Edwardsville. The Center provides classroom instruction from Southwestern Illinois College and Kaskaskia College.
