Flag of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic
Flag of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic
The flag of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (Tatar ASSR) was the symbol of the republic from 1920 until 1991, when the Tatar ASSR ceased to exist after the Soviet Union collapsed.
Design
The flag had a red background with a light blue stripe on the hoist (left) side. In the upper left corner near the hoist, there was a hammer and sickle, along with the words “Tatar ASSR” written in Russian. The flag’s proportions were 1:2. Its layout was similar to the flag of the Russian SFSR.
History
The flag was adopted in 1920 and saw several design changes over the years before it stopped being used in 1991.
