A quick look at its history
- Founded in 1989 by Patrick Durbin in Austin.
- In 1997, launched Planview Enterprise, a web-based PPM tool.
- 2004: Durbin stepped down as CEO; Greg Gilmore became CEO and the company pushed more toward cloud SaaS.
- 2014–2020: Grew through acquisitions, including Projectplace (2014), Troux (2015), Innotas (2016), LeanKit (2017), Spigit (2018), Aptage (2020).
- Ownership and investors: Insight Partners bought a stake in 2013; Thoma Bravo became majority owner in 2017; in 2020 Planview was acquired by private equity firms TPG Capital and TA Associates for about $1.6 billion.
- 2021: Razat Gaurav became CEO. The company continued expanding with acquisitions of Clarizen and Changepoint (2021), Tasktop (2022), Enrich (2022), Plutora (2024). It also reported record revenue in 2022 and 2023.
