Samuel Atta Mills
Samuel Atta Mills (born 26 April 1956) is a Ghanaian politician and the Member of Parliament for the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abirem constituency in the Central Region. He is a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and has served in Parliament since January 2017.
Early life and education
Mills was born in Kissi, in the Central Region of Ghana. He attended Mfantsipim School, then Komenda College of Education where he earned a Diploma in Education. He later studied at Belmont University in Nashville, earning a BBA in Economics and Accounting in 1984 and an MBA in Finance and Banking in 1986.
Career before politics
Before entering Parliament, Mills was the CEO of the Ghana Tourism Development Company (2003–2005). He then worked as a Regional Manager for Panera Bread (2005–2009). He also served as a Presidential Aide to President John Atta Mills and worked as a Commercial Loans Manager at First American Bank.
Politics
Mills is a member of the National Democratic Congress. He won the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abirem seat in 2016 and has been the MP since 2017. He was re-elected in 2020 and again in 2024. In Parliament, he serves on the Roads and Transport Committee and is the vice chair of the Public Accounts Committee.
Personal life
He is a Christian and a member of the Methodist Church of Ghana. He is the brother of the late President John Atta Mills.
