Notaras family

The Notaras family is an old Greek noble family. They trace their origins to the Byzantine period, coming from Monemvasia. Loukas Notaras, the last megas doux of the Byzantine Empire, was a famous member. Over the centuries, the Notaras built a legacy in religion, politics, and the arts. They supported the Greek Orthodox Church, contributed to the Greek kingdom, and produced artists who worked in Romania.
