Niers is a river in Germany and the Netherlands. It is a right tributary of the Meuse (Maas). Its source is near Erkelenz, south of Mönchengladbach in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The Niers flows through Mönchengladbach, Viersen, Wachtendonk, Geldern, and Goch before crossing into the Netherlands and joining the Meuse near Gennep in Limburg. The river is about 116 kilometers long (roughly 108 km in Germany and 8 km in the Netherlands) and drains a basin of about 1,373 square kilometers.
