Gyula Kertész (also known as Julius Kertész) was a Hungarian football player and coach who lived from February 29, 1888 to May 1, 1982. He was born in Kiskálna, Austria-Hungary, and was Jewish.

Playing career
Kertész played as a winger for MTK Budapest from 1906 to 1912, alongside his brothers Vilmos and Adolf Kertész. He also played once for the Hungary national team, in 1912 against Austria. In 1911 he started a photographic studio with fellow MTK player Izidor Kürschner to supplement his income.

Coaching career
After his playing days, Kertész became a coach and worked mainly in Germany, with stints at several clubs:
- Union Altona (1921–1924)
- Victoria Hamburg (1924–1928)
- FC Basel in Switzerland (1928–1930)
- Hamburger SV (starting January 1931)
- VfB Leipzig (1932–1933)

Later life
In 1933 he left Germany and moved to the United States, where he worked in the record industry. His son, who used the name George Curtiss, became a leading manager at Remington Records.

Death
Gyula Kertész died on May 1, 1982, in New York City, United States, at the age of 94.
