Ohio House Committees

In the Ohio House of Representatives, committees are smaller groups that study and shape legislation before it goes to the full House. They help members develop expertise in specific topics.

Main committees and what they cover:
- Agriculture & Rural Development: farming and rural issues
- Armed Services, Veterans Affairs and Public Safety: military, veterans, and public safety
- Community & Family Advancement: communities and families (includes a Subcommittee on Minority Affairs)
- Commerce & Labor: business, commerce, and labor
- Economic & Workforce Development: jobs and the economy
- Education: schools and higher education
- Energy & Natural Resources: energy and natural resources
- Finance & Appropriations: budgeting and funding for state government
- Financial Institutions, Housing and Urban Development: banks, housing, and urban development
- Government Accountability & Oversight: government operations and accountability
- Health & Aging: health policy and aging
- Insurance: insurance issues
- Judiciary: courts and the legal system
- Local Government: counties and municipalities
- Public Utilities: utilities (water, electricity, etc.)
- Rules & Reference: rules and reference materials
- State Government: state government matters
- Transportation & Infrastructure: roads, transit, and infrastructure
- Ways & Means: taxes and state revenue

Note:
- Each committee has a chair (from the majority party) and a ranking member (from the minority party).
- There are also subcommittees for more detailed topics, such as the Subcommittee on Minority Affairs under Community & Family Advancement.
