Mina Kavani
Mina Kavani is an Iranian-French actress, born Mina Khosrovani on May 23, 1989 in Tehran, Iran. She grew up in an artistic family and is the niece of film and theater director Ali Raffi. She trained as an actress at the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique (CNSAD) in Paris, in the class of Jean Damien Barbin under director Daniel Mesguich.
Kavani began acting in Tehran, performing in plays such as It Doesn’t Snow in Egypt, Othello, and Antigone. At 23, she moved to Paris to continue her studies. She lent her voice to the character Sahar in Argo (2012) and starred in Red Rose (2014). The latter movie drew threats from Iranian media, leading to her exile. She was granted political refugee status with support from Isabelle Huppert and Bertrand Bonello.
In France, Kavani has worked on stage at venues like Odéon and has participated in various festivals. She starred in No Bears (2022) by Jafar Panahi, which won the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival. In 2024, she joined the ensemble cast of Reading Lolita in Tehran, alongside Golshifteh Farahani and Zar Amir-Ebrahimi.
Kavani moved to France in 2010 and later became a French citizen. She remains active in both film and theater.
