Gold Castle Records
Gold Castle Records was an American folk and country music record label founded in 1987. It was co-owned by Danny Goldberg and Julian Schlossberg, who also helped produce the live concert film No Nukes, with Paula Jeffries serving as the general manager. The label’s name comes from the first parts of the founders’ surnames—Goldberg and Schlossberg (Schloss meaning “castle” in German).
Gold Castle’s records were distributed by PolyGram, then by CEMA under EMI. The roster included well-known artists such as Joan Baez, Judy Collins, Peter, Paul and Mary, Eliza Gilkyson, and Eric Andersen. Many of these artists were already established but were not previously signed to a label. Don McLean released two albums on Gold Castle in 1989 and 1990. The Washington Squares also released two records with the label, and Darius Degher (Darius) released one album.
Gold Castle Records is now defunct.
