Marine Cryptologic Support Battalion

What it is
The Marine Cryptologic Support Battalion (MCSB) is a United States Marine Corps intelligence unit. Its headquarters are at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. MCSB trains, employs, and deploys Marines to do Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), Information Assurance (IA), and National-Tactical Integration work for NSA/CSS, the Marine Air-Ground Task Force, and joint-force intelligence needs. In 2022, MCSB was placed under the Marine Corps Information Command (MARCOR INFOCOM), which was created on October 1, 2022, as part of Force Design 2030.

Mission
MCSB’s mission is to enable and execute SIGINT, IA, and National-Tactical Integration activities to meet NSA/CSS, MAGTF, and joint intelligence requirements.

- Company B – Fort Meade, Maryland
- Company D – Fort Gordon, Georgia
- Company G – RAF Menwith Hill, England (closed in December 2013)
- Company H – San Antonio, Texas
- Company I – Schofield Barracks, Hawaii (established 1962; previously based in Nicosia, Cyprus)
- Company L – Fort Meade, Maryland (part of the Marine Corps Cyberspace Command)

Notable veterans
- Alfred M. Gray Jr. – Often regarded as the founder of Marine Cryptologic Support Battalion; later became Commandant of the Marine Corps (1979–1981), though he did not command the unit under its current name.
- Vincent R. Stewart – LtGen who served as a company commander in MCSB; later led the Defense Intelligence Agency (2015–2017) and Marine Corps Intelligence (2009–2013).
- William H. Seely III – MajGen who commanded I Company at Kunia, Hawaii (2000–2002) and later led Marine Corps Intelligence (2016–2017, 2021–present).
- Dimitri Henry – MajGen who commanded Co H, MCSB (San Antonio, 2001–2004) and later led Marine Corps Intelligence (2017–2019).
- Dewey G. “Guy” Jordan – LtCol who commanded MCSB (2005–2007) and later held senior roles in MARFORCYBER and HQMC, including senior positions at NSA and CYBERCOM.
