Bánh giò
Bánh giò is a Vietnamese steamed, pyramid-shaped savory rice cake. It’s filled with ground pork, wood ear mushrooms, and onions, wrapped in a thin layer of glutinous rice flour dough, and then wrapped in banana leaves. The cake is steamed until the dough is cooked and the filling is flavorful. You can eat bánh giò plain or with soy sauce or chili sauce. It likely originated in northern Vietnam and is now a popular street food throughout the country, kept warm on carts or stalls and enjoyed as a breakfast or snack. It’s also found in many Vietnamese restaurants.
