Gray's stone loach is a small ray-finned fish in the Balitoridae family. Its scientific name is Balitora brucei, described by John Edward Gray in 1830. It is native to parts of South Asia: India, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Myanmar. The species grows up to about 10.5 cm (4.1 inches) long. It lives in fast-flowing streams and ditches. Females are typically plumper than males. Conservation status is Near Threatened on the IUCN Red List (IUCN 3.1). Synonyms include Balitora maculata, Homaloptera brucei, Homaloptera maculata, Platycara maculata, and Platycara anisura.
