Overview
Halcones F.C. is a Mexican professional football club. It has been known as Halcones de Zapopan and Club Deportivo Zap in its history. The team began in the Liga de Balompié Mexicano in 2020 and moved to Liga Premier de México (Serie A) in 2021. It is currently based in Uruapan, Michoacán. The home ground is Estadio Unidad Deportiva Hermanos López Rayón, which has a capacity of 6,000.
History
- 2020: The club registered for the inaugural season of the Liga de Balompié Mexicano (LBM). It was officially formed on June 12, with Tres de Marzo Stadium named as home. Jorge Hernández González was announced as the first manager on June 20, and Jesús Roberto Chávez became the club’s first player on July 18. On December 30, the team withdrew from the season due to financial problems and left the LBM in January 2021.
- 2021: The club was renamed Club Deportivo Zap and moved to Zapotlanejo, Jalisco, to pursue affiliation with the Mexican Football Federation’s Liga Premier. It joined Serie A de México in July 2021, in Group 2.
- 2022: The club returned to the Halcones de Zapopan name.
- 2024: A change of ownership led to the name Halcones F.C. and relocation to Querétaro City. The team won the Copa Promesas MX on August 20, the competition’s first edition.
- 2025: The club relocated from Querétaro to Uruapan, Michoacán, for operational reasons.
Stadium
Estadio Unidad Deportiva Hermanos López Rayón in Uruapan, Michoacán, is the team’s home stadium. It hosts Halcones F.C. matches and Aguacateros CDU, with a capacity of 6,000 spectators.
