Dimitris Flionis
Dimitris Flionis is a Greek professional basketball player. Born on April 8, 1997 in Thessaloniki, he is a 1.90-meter (about 6 ft 2 in) point guard who weighs around 84 kg. He plays for AEK Athens in the Greek Basket League and the Basketball Champions League, and he has been the team captain since 2023.
Flionis began his career with Aris Thessaloniki’s youth teams and moved up to the senior team in 2015. He played for Aris through 2021, helping the team in Greece’s top league and in European competitions. In the 2019–20 season he averaged about 4.1 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game, and in the 2020–21 season he improved to roughly 5.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. He joined AEK Athens on August 12, 2021, and extended his contract to 2025 in March 2022. In the 2021–22 season he averaged around 6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists in about 24 minutes per game, and in the 2022–23 season he increased to about 7.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists in roughly 22 minutes per game, with a standout game on January 31, 2023, when he posted 11 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists against Galatasaray. In July 2025, Flionis renewed with AEK for three more seasons.
On the international stage, Flionis has represented Greece's junior national teams. He won a bronze medal at the 2013 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship, and gold medals at the 2014 FIBA Under-17 World Championship and the 2015 FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship, followed by another gold at the 2017 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship.
