Gareth Cross is an English cricketer born on 20 June 1984 in Bury, Greater Manchester. He is a right-handed batsman and a wicketkeeper who sometimes bowls with right-arm medium-fast pace. He spent most of his early career with Lancashire.

Cross made his first-class debut in 2005 after Warren Hegg retired. In his early years he found opportunities limited because Lancashire signed another wicketkeeper, Luke Sutton. He played regularly in one-day cricket and began to establish himself in the squad. In 2010 he became Lancashire’s first-choice wicketkeeper after Sutton left the club.

In 2011 Cross was part of the Lancashire team that won the County Championship, and he played in all of the season’s matches. He continued to play for Lancashire until the end of the 2013 season, after which he moved on to other clubs. He had a short spell with Cheshire in Minor Counties cricket and then joined Derbyshire in 2014 after a trial.

Outside England, Cross played for St Kilda in Australia during the 2008/09 season, where he won the Jack Ryder Medal as the Premier Cricket Player of the Year. He later returned to club cricket in England and joined Clifton as a professional in 2015.
