Blambangan Peninsula

Blambangan Peninsula is at the southeastern tip of Java, in Banyuwangi Regency, East Java. It covers about 434.2 square kilometers and includes Alas Purwo National Park. The peninsula contains Cape Bantenan, the southernmost point of Java, and Cape Slaka, the easternmost point. In 2016 UNESCO named Blambangan a Biosphere Reserve, combining four protected areas: Alas Purwo National Park, Baluran National Park, Meru Betiri National Park, and Ijen Crater Natural Reserve. It is Indonesia’s 11th UNESCO biosphere reserve. The area sits at roughly 8.7°S and 114.5°E.
