Clive Llewellyn
Clive Llewellyn is a Canadian wrestler and lawyer born on March 27, 1953, in Eldoret, Kenya. He is known for competing in the men’s freestyle 68 kg category and for his work helping wrestling grow in Canada.
Wrestling career
- Won a silver medal at the 1975 Pan American Games in the 68 kg category.
- Competed in the 68 kg freestyle event at the 1976 Montreal Olympics and the 1980 Moscow Olympics.
- Finished fourth at the 1978 Commonwealth Games.
- A national champion and longtime leader in Canadian wrestling, he also helped start several wrestling clubs and programs.
Education and legal career
- Studied law at the University of Western Ontario (Bachelor of Laws) and earned a Master of Arts in Economics from Lakehead University, plus a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) from Western University.
- Became a lawyer in Alberta in 1983 and has built a career in civil, corporate, and commercial litigation.
- Since 2010, he has run his own Calgary-based law firm, Llewellyn Law, offering various legal services. He is also active in pro bono work.
Contributions and recognitions
- Worked with United World Wrestling’s Legal Commission from 2008 to 2021.
- Founded the Metro Toronto Wrestling Club and helped establish several wrestling groups in Calgary.
- Served as Athlete Representative, Secretary-Treasurer, President, and Past President of Wrestling Canada Lutte (Canada’s national wrestling body).
- Inducted into the Canadian Wrestling Hall of Fame.
- Awarded the Silver Star by the International Amateur Wrestling Federation for his service to the sport.

- Continues to coach and develop wrestling in Canada through clubs and programs.
- Maintains his law practice in Calgary, providing legal services and supporting community work.
