US National Commander of The Salvation Army

The National Commander leads The Salvation Army’s work in the United States, guiding its social services and Christian ministries. The United States is divided into four territories—Eastern, Central, Western, and Southern—each with its own leadership to support local programs and churches.

Current leadership: Commissioner Kenneth G. Hodder has been the US National Commander since July 1, 2020, serving as a national leader along with his wife Jolene Hodder.

History: The position has existed since 1880. Throughout the years, a line of commanders has led The Salvation Army in the United States, from the first commander George Scott Railton to the present.
