Souleymane Sawadogo
Souleymane Sawadogo (born 9 January 1993) is a Burkinabé professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for US Granville in France’s Championnat National 2.
Born in Ouagadougou, Sawadogo came through the youth system at Auxerre and made his professional Ligue 2 debut with Auxerre in August 2013 against Nîmes. In 2014 he joined Clermont Foot, later playing for Clermont’s senior team, and then LB Châteauroux in 2016.
In 2017 he moved to Levadiakos in Greece, signing a two-and-a-half-year deal in December 2016. He scored for Levadiakos against Asteras Tripolis on 14 April 2018, his first goal for the club.
Sawadogo returned to France in January 2020 with Gazélec Ajaccio, then joined US Créteil-Lusitanos in June 2020. After being released at the end of the season and spending six months without a club, he signed for US Granville in February 2022.
Internationally, Sawadogo has represented Burkina Faso, making his debut in a 1-0 friendly win over Cameroon on 27 May 2018.
Career highlights: played in Ligue 2 with Auxerre and Clermont, spent several seasons in Greece with Levadiakos, and later competed in the French lower divisions with Gazélec Ajaccio, Créteil and Granville. Across his career up to late 2022, he had around 200 league appearances and over 25 goals in all competitions.
