Jörg Daniel (born 9 July 1951 in Hagen, West Germany) is a German football coach and former player who was a goalkeeper. He is best known for playing in the Bundesliga for Fortuna Düsseldorf, making 112 league appearances.

Playing career
Daniel began at SV Herringen and achieved youth success in 1969 with VfL Bochum. He moved to Alemannia Aachen in 1970, where he played as a reserve goalkeeper in the Regionalliga West. To focus on his studies as a sports teacher, he became an amateur again in 1972 and completed his Diploma at Cologne Sports College.

In 1974 he returned to professional football with Fortuna Köln in the 2. Bundesliga, mostly as a backup behind Wolfgang Fahrian. For the 1975–76 season he was loaned to Union Solingen, where he showed good form. This led to a transfer to Fortuna Düsseldorf in 1976. He became the first-choice goalkeeper after an injury to Wilfried Woyke and stayed with Düsseldorf for five years. The club won the DFB-Pokal in 1979 and 1980 and reached the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup final in 1979. Daniel’s contract ended in 1981, and due to inconsistent form the club did not offer a new deal, so he retired from playing that year.

Coaching career
After retiring, Daniel earned his coaching license. From 1984 to 1999 he worked for the Baden-Württemberg Football Association in Karlsruhe. In July 1999 he joined the German Football Association (DFB), coaching players from under-15 to under-17 and serving as a goalkeeping coach for the Germany national team. He left the DFB in 2004 to become the coordinator and Sporting Director of the association’s talent programs and coaching school. In 1990 he co-wrote the book Fußball-Jugendtraining. Grundlagen, Übungen, Programme.
