2010 Silverstone GP2 Series round
The 2010 Silverstone GP2 Series round was held July 10–11, 2010 at Silverstone Circuit in the United Kingdom. It was the fifth round of the 2010 GP2 Series and supported the British Grand Prix.
Qualifying
- Jules Bianchi took pole for the Feature Race (ART Grand Prix) with a 1:39.189 lap time.
Feature Race (33 laps)
- Winner: Pastor Maldonado (Rapax) extended his series lead, overtaking polesitter Jules Bianchi at the start and pulling away to win by 10.1 seconds.
- Second: Jules Bianchi (ART Grand Prix)
- Third: Dani Clos (Racing Engineering)
- Other notable results: Sam Bird (ART Grand Prix) finished fourth; Pastor Maldonado’s victory helped him further in the championship. Giedo van der Garde, Ho-Pin Tung, and Luiz Razia retired from the race; Tung had started with a brand-new chassis rushed through scrutineering after Friday practice.
- Turvey started Sprint Race from pole after finishing sixth in the Feature Race, following a late struggle for position involving several drivers.
- Fastest lap: Pastor Maldonado, 1:41.663 on lap 23.
Sprint Race (23 laps)
- Winner: Sergio Pérez (Barwa Addax Team)
- Second: Oliver Turvey (ISport International)
- Third: Dani Clos (Racing Engineering)
- Notable events: Sergio Pérez overtook early and pulled away to win by a large margin (about 15.7 seconds). Sam Bird was unable to start the race due to an engine failure during installation. Turvey earned his first GP2 main-series podium with a strong drive to second; Clos challenged for a podium but finished third.
- The Sprint race results also influenced the round’s final standings and enhanced Pérez’s championship momentum.

Penalties
- Christian Vietoris, Alberto Valerio, and Johnny Cecotto Jr. were penalized ten starting positions on the grid for causing collisions in the previous round’s sprint.
The Silverstone round produced a clear shift in momentum, with Maldonado extending his lead in the Feature Race and Pérez delivering a dominant Sprint Race to boost his title challenge.
