Harald Cerny
Harald Cerny (born 13 September 1973 in Vienna) is an Austrian former professional footballer who played as a right midfielder. He is best known for his long spell with TSV 1860 Munich and for representing Austria 47 times.
Club career
- Cerny came through the youth ranks at Admira Wacker in Austria and began his professional career with Bayern Munich in 1992–93, making his Bundesliga debut on 27 October 1992.
- After a return to Admira Wacker and a spell with FC Tirol, he moved back to Munich in 1996 to join TSV 1860 Munich.
- Over 11 seasons with 1860 Munich, he made 213 top‑flight appearances and scored 15 goals, helping the club stay in the Bundesliga and compete in the UEFA Cup.
- He finished his playing career in 2007, spending his final years with clubs in the second division in Bavaria.
International career
- Cerny earned 47 caps for Austria and scored 4 goals.
- He debuted for Austria in March 1993 in a friendly against Greece.
- He played in the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France (two appearances).
- His last international match came in April 2004 against Luxembourg.
Coaching career
- After retiring, Cerny began coaching, taking roles with Bayern Munich and 1860 Munich’s youth teams (including U15 and U14).
- He later worked with Hannover 96’s youth system (U17) and, as of 2022, was described as a scout for 1. FC Köln.
