Godfrey James Thomson, known by his stage name Godfrey, is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, and record producer based in Austin, Texas. He co-founded the alternative rock band Saints of Valory in 2008, serving as the band's lead guitarist and vocalist. The group released several projects, including the The Bright Lights EP (2010), later EPs and singles, and the full-length album Bleeding Rainbows (2018). Saints of Valory were once signed to Atlantic Records and Universal Music Publishing Group, and they shared stages with big acts like The Rolling Stones and Imagine Dragons.

Godfrey has also released music as a solo artist. In March 2020, he dropped Sugar Puss, a collaboration with rapper Nitty Scott, which received positive reviews. He followed with the singles Let Me in May 2020 and Hard Look (Mirror And Me) in June 2020.

Early life and beginnings
Godfrey was born Godfrey James Thomson in the United States and moved to Brazil when he was one year old. He began performing and playing guitar in public as a child, and by age nine he was recording vocals and doing voice acting in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. At 15 he moved with his family to Los Angeles, and later spent time in Tokyo pursuing training in audio engineering and music production.

Career path
After returning to the United States in his early twenties, Godfrey worked as a record producer and audio engineer. In the early 2000s he moved to Mexico City, where he built an recording studio and continued producing music. In 2008 he returned to form Saints of Valory in Rio de Janeiro with friends, and the band grew into a notable project in the indie/alt-rock scene. During this period he gained recognition as a guitarist and contributor to the band’s success, including notable live performances and industry attention.
