Artsakh Public TV: A short overview

Artsakh Public Radio and TV Company, commonly called Artsakh TV, was a government-owned television and radio broadcaster in the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh). It began on June 1, 1988, and was based in Stepanakert. In 2003 it gained public status under Armenia’s law on television and radio.

For many years it was Artsakh’s only local TV channel. In 2012 a separate company started a radio service, and in 2013 Artsakh TV expanded its terrestrial broadcasting from 4 hours to 8 hours a day, while the radio service grew from 5 hours to 24 hours.

On January 6, 2019, Artsakh TV started broadcasting in high definition via the Intelsat 33e satellite. The channel offered news and programs about national and international events, as well as culture, sports, youth, education, and entertainment. Its potential audience was about 130,000 people. At some point, the channel’s board was led by Norek Gasparyan.

In 2024 Artsakh Public TV was dissolved.
