Dream FM (London)

Dream FM was a pirate radio station in London during the 1990s that promoted happy hardcore and related genres. It began broadcasting in January 1994 from Battersea in southwest London, briefly using the name Global FM. The station later aired on 107.6 FM (and also 107.0 FM earlier) from March 1995.

Music and events: Dream FM played happy hardcore, breakbeat hardcore, jungle, and house. It promoted raves at London venues such as Club Labrynth, Bagley’s, Adrenalin Village, The Fridge, and Linford Film Studio. The station featured live outside broadcasts, phone-ins, and on-air games like Beat The Raid.

Media and recognition: In April 1996, Dream FM was featured in the BBC First Sight documentary about pirate radio in London. From 1996 to 1998, the station also produced a monthly Dream Magazine sold on high streets.

Closure: Dream FM ceased broadcasting on 13 April 1997, with a farewell party held on 19 April 1997 at Linford Film Studio.

Note: Not to be confused with Dream FM (Leeds).
