CRG (kart manufacturer)

CRG is an Italian company that makes kart chassis and, since the 1990s, has also produced racing engines. It started as Kalì Kart, founded by three Italian racers—Carlo Vanaria, Roberto Vanaria and Giancarlo Tinini. In 1986, the brand was renamed CRG, and the Tinini Group later used CRG as its main kart brand.

CRG has been very successful in international kart racing and is often called the “Champions Factory” because many top drivers have raced its karts. Notable names associated with CRG include Max Verstappen, Sophie Kumpen, Alex Zanardi, Vitantonio Liuzzi, and Lewis Hamilton.

Engines and partnerships

CRG began building its own engines in the mid-1990s, but these engines were eventually replaced by Maxter gear—100 cc and 125 cc gearbox engines. CRG has also supplied engines to brands such as Maranello Karts, Vanspeed, Zanardi, and DR Kart, and in recent years has partnered with TM Racing for engines.

Achievements

Over the decades, CRG has won numerous World and European championships across many karting categories, including KF, KF2, OK, KZ, and KZ2. The team is well known for its competitive chassis and for helping develop many drivers who progressed to higher levels of motorsport.
