Nick Frentz
Nick A. Frentz (born June 29, 1963) is an American politician and attorney serving in the Minnesota Senate. A member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL), he represents District 18 in south-central Minnesota, after previously representing District 19 from 2017 to 2023.
Early life and education
Frentz was born in Japan and grew up in Davis, California. He graduated from Macalester College in 1984 and William Mitchell College of Law in 1987.
Career
Frentz is a lawyer by training. He is a partner at Maschka, Riedy, Ries, and Frentz and was formerly a partner at Frentz and Frentz Law Offices. He is also a minority owner of Tandem Bagels, a bakery and coffeehouse in Mankato.
Minnesota Senate
Frentz was elected to the Minnesota Senate in 2016 and took office on January 3, 2017. He served as assistant minority leader in 2021–22 and, starting in 2023, became assistant majority leader and chair of the Energy, Utilities, Environment and Climate Committee.
Personal life
Frentz is married to Jill since 1989, and they have four children. They live in North Mankato, Minnesota. He is Lutheran.
