Biùtiful cauntri
Biùtiful cauntri is a 2007 Italian documentary film directed by Esmeralda Calabria and Andrea D'Ambrosio. The film investigates illegal toxic waste dumping in Southern Italy and how it affects land, animals, and people, especially in Caserta and Naples. It explores the connections between government inaction, corrupt businessmen, and the Camorra, the Italian organized crime group.
Release and book
The film premiered in November 2007 at the Torino Film Festival, where it received a special mention. It was released in ten Italian movie theaters in March 2008. On July 15, 2008, it was released in France. The DVD came with a 90-page book published by the Senza Filtro imprint of Biblioteca Universale Rizzoli.
