Josef Bauer was an Austrian artist born on January 12, 1934, in Wels, Austria. He passed away on March 3, 2022, at the age of 88.

Life and work
Bauer studied painting in Linz. His main artistic style became tactile poetry, a form that invites physical interaction with art. In recognition of his work, he received the Linz Cultural Award in 1994 and the Upper Austria Cultural Award for Fine Arts in 1995.
