2013 Medicine Hat Charity Classic
The 2013 Medicine Hat Charity Classic was a curling tournament held October 18–21 at the Medicine Hat Curling Club in Medicine Hat, Alberta. It was part of the 2013–14 World Curling Tour and featured both men’s and women’s events, each played in a triple-knockout format. The men’s event had a total purse of CAD 34,000, with the winner receiving CAD 10,000. The women’s event offered CAD 30,000, with the champions earning CAD 8,000.
In the men’s final, Randy Bryden of Regina defeated fellow Saskatchewan rival Scott Bitz to win the title in an all-Saskatchewan showdown. Bryden’s team represented the Callie Curling Club in Regina. In the women’s final, Anna Sidorova of Russia defeated Sayaka Yoshimura of Japan to claim the championship; Sidorova’s team curled out of the Moskvitch Curling Club in Moscow.
The event highlighted a strong Saskatchewan presence in the men’s competition and a more international field in the women’s competition.
