Socialist Equality Party (Australia)
The Socialist Equality Party (Australia) is a small Trotskyist political party in Australia. It was founded in 2010 as the successor to the Socialist Labour League, which existed from 1972 to 2010 as the Australian section of the International Committee of the Fourth International (ICFI). The SEP identifies with Marxism, socialism and orthodox Trotskyism and is affiliated with the ICFI. Its newspaper is the World Socialist Web Site, and its youth wing is the IYSSE (International Youth and Students for Social Equality).

Policies and stance

Electoral status and results
- The party is/was a small, unregistered party. It was deregistered by the Australian Electoral Commission in February 2022 for having too few members, meaning it could no longer qualify as a registered party (though it remained active as an organization).
- In the 2016 federal election, the SEP ran candidates in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria (Senate and House of Representatives) and for the Division of Wills in Victoria. It did not win any seats and received very small shares of the vote; New South Wales was their strongest area.
Membership and reach
- About 700 members (electoral) as of 2021.
- The SEP has historically drawn support from younger voters and has not held any seats in Parliament.
