For Long Tomorrow
For Long Tomorrow is the second studio album by the Japanese math rock band Toe. It was released on December 9, 2009. The band introduced new sounds on this album, including Rhodes piano, acoustic guitars, and light vocals, expanding their post-rock influence. The music mixes math rock and post-rock, with lyrics in English and Japanese. The album runs 49 minutes and 54 seconds, was released on MachuPicchu Industrias, and produced by Toe. It sits between The Book About My Idle Plot on a Vague Anxiety (2005) and Hear You (2015) in Toe’s discography.
Critical reception:
- Japan Times reviewer Shawn Despres called it well worth the wait and a compelling listen, with complex arrangements and a stronger post-rock feel.
- Blogcritics’ Cadence Wu said the album shows musical maturity through new elements like Rhodes piano, acoustic guitar, and a more experimental approach, while keeping a light, upbeat sound.
