Pyrenophora teres f. maculata
Pyrenophora teres f. maculata is a fungus that infects barley, causing net blotch disease. It specifically creates the spot form of net blotch on barley leaves. Taxonomically, it is a forma specialis of Pyrenophora teres, in the Pleosporaceae family (kingdom Fungi; division Ascomycota; class Dothideomycetes; order Pleosporales). Some sources, including Species Fungorum, treat Pyrenophora teres f. maculata as a synonym of Pyrenophora teres, meaning it may not be recognized as a separate form in current taxonomy. In short, it’s one of the fungal pathogens that can harm barley by producing leaf spots.
