NLE1
NLE1, or notchless homolog 1, is a human gene that makes a protein called Notchless protein homolog 1. The gene is located on chromosome 17 in the 17q12 region. It has aliases such as NLE1 and Nle. The human protein has the UniProt ID Q9NVX2; the mouse version is ID Q8VEJ4. NLE1 is expressed in many tissues, with particularly high levels in the gonads, pancreas, certain brain areas, and other developing tissues. In mice, expression is strong during early development, including in the morula, yolk sac, epiblast, embryo, and neural tissues. NLE1 has orthologs in other species, showing it is evolutionarily conserved. It is part of a large network of protein interactions in human cells, reflecting its involvement in cellular processes. Notchless protein 1 is a conserved protein whose precise role is still being studied.
