Klāvs Bethers
Klāvs Bethers (born 24 December 2003) is a Latvian footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Catania in Italy’s Serie C and for Latvia’s under-21 national team. He comes from Aizpute, Latvia, and is 1.86 meters tall.
Career
- He began his career in Latvia with FK Liepāja and made his senior debut with Grobiņa in the 2020 Latvian First League. He spent the 2020-21 season with Liepāja and had a loan spell at Grobiņa.
- In January 2022, he moved to Italy to join the Serie D club Città di Sant’Agata.
- He then joined Piacenza in Serie C, who loaned him to Catania for the 2022-23 season. Bethers played regularly and helped Catania win promotion to Serie C.
- In 2023, Catania signed him permanently. He established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper for the 2023-24 Serie C season, even with the arrival of a more experienced keeper.
International
- Bethers has represented Latvia at youth level, with 2 caps for Latvia U-17 in 2019 and 1 cap for Latvia U-21 starting in 2023.
Honours
- With Catania, won the Serie D title in 2022-23 (Group I), earning promotion to Serie C.
