Equus Bass 770

The Equus Bass 770 is a retro‑futuristic muscle car built by Equus Automotive in Detroit, Michigan. Named after the company’s founder, Bassam Abdallah, the Bass 770 combines classic 1960s–70s muscle car styling with modern performance and comfort. At its launch in 2015, six models were offered: Accent, Accent Plus, Design, Design Plus, Edition, and Collection.

Design and features
The Bass 770’s looks are inspired by vintage American muscle cars, especially the Ford Mustang fastback, with additional cues from other era cars. Inside, it emphasizes analog gauges and metal accents. Despite the retro vibe, it includes modern comforts such as LED lights, parking sensors, an infotainment system, and GPS.

Construction and materials
The car uses an aluminum chassis and body with carbon fiber reinforcement and is handcrafted.

Powertrain and performance
Power comes from a 6.2-liter LS9-based supercharged V8 (derived from the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1). It delivers up to 640 hp and 605 lb‑ft of torque, sent to the rear wheels through a 6‑speed rear‑mounted dual‑clutch transmission. The Bass 770 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed over 200 mph.

Handling and brakes
It rides on performance tires (front 255/40R19, rear 285/40R19) and uses Brembo brakes with six pistons at the front and four pistons at the rear, plus carbon-ceramic rotors (390 mm front, 360 mm rear). Optional driving aids include magnetic ride control, traction management, and active handling, along with power steering.

Dimensions and weight
Wheelbase: 2,975 mm; length: 4,927 mm; width: 1,934 mm; height: 1,390 mm. Curb weight is about 1,651 kg (3,640 lb).

Design and designers
The design was led by Tom Tjaarda, with contributions from Bassam Abdallah and Thierry Chalmet.

Related model
A later model, the Equus Throwback, was introduced with significantly higher performance, up to about 1,000 hp.

Built for enthusiasts who love a vintage look with modern speed, the Equus Bass 770 remains a notable example of retro styling paired with contemporary hypercar performance.
