Craig Meschede
Craig Anthony Joseph Meschede (born 21 November 1991) is a South Africa–born German cricketer who plays as an all‑rounder. He bats right‑handed and bowls right‑arm medium‑fast. Meschede began his professional career with Somerset in England, making his debut in the 2011 Caribbean Twenty20 and later appearing in first‑class and one‑day cricket, including a noted wicket of Sachin Tendulkar.
In 2015 he spent a season on loan with Glamorgan and then signed a three‑year contract with them in 2016, with a career highlight of a 101 against Surrey in 2015. He switched to representing Germany in 2019, making his Twenty20 International debut on 15 June 2019 against Guernsey and finishing the 2019 European qualifier as the leading run‑scorer with 179 runs.
Meschede’s playing career was cut short by a neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome, leading to retirement in June 2020 at age 28. He returned to international cricket in September 2021, being named in Germany’s squad for the World Cup Europe Qualifier Regional Final.
