Bratati Bandyopadhyay, also known as Bratati Bandopadhay or Bratati Banerjee, is a Bengali elocutionist from Kolkata. She founded Kabyayan, an institution for practicing elocution, and Bratati Parampara, an organization that promotes recitation and other performing arts. She is known for reciting works by classic and contemporary Bengali poets such as Rabindranath Tagore, Nazrul Islam, Sukumar Ray, and Shankha Ghosh.

Career highlights
Bratati has given more than 2,000 poetry recitals in India and abroad. She has been invited to perform in countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Kuwait, Muscat, Singapore, and Bangladesh. In December 1996, she presented a landmark three-hour solo recital titled Ek Sandhyay Eka Bratati. Kolkata has hosted several three-hour solo recitals by her, such as Ek Sandhyay Eka Bratati (Parts 2 and 3), Pachishey Bratati, Chirasakha, and Chiradiner.

Works and teaching
She built Kabyayan, which now has about 800 students. Bratati Parampara promotes recitation and other performing arts in a professional way. She mentors elocution in schools run by the Techno India Group and conducted a workshop for inmates at Presidency Correctional Home in 2006.

Albums
Bratati has released more than 60 albums. Many are based on Rabindranath Tagore’s works, such as Rabindranath O Rabindranath, Chirosakha, Tomar Andhar Tomar Alo, Chhotoder Rabindranath, Amar Rabindranath, Ebang raktakarabi, Ebang Strir Patra, Jharer Kheya, Monere Tai Kaho Je, Satobarsho Pare, and collaborations like Dujone dekha holo (with Srabani Sen) and Gitanjali (with Pratush Bandyopadhyay). She also has modern-poem albums and collections for children.

Early life and education
Bratati was born in Kolkata to Manjul Kumar Bandyopadhyay and Maya Bandyopadhya. She studied at Bethune Collegiate School in Kolkata, then moved with her parents and younger brother to Barasat and Hridaypur. She earned a first-class Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Calcutta.
