Jennie Foley Building
Jennie Foley Building
The Jennie Foley Building (also known as the Jennie Foley-Victor A. Arrigo Building) is a historic four-story brick building in Chicago, Illinois, at 626–628 S. Racine Ave. It was built in 1889 with a storefront on the first floor and six apartments on the upper floors.
Its design features include hexagonal bay windows, a decorative metal cornice with scrolls and dentils, and belt courses between floors on the east side. The building is part of Chicago’s early 20th-century Sicilian immigrant community, when many mixed-use commercial and residential buildings were built.
In 1910, the Arrigo family bought the building, and Victor A. Arrigo, a prominent lawyer and politician, lived there until his death in 1973.
The Jennie Foley Building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 19, 1985 (NRHP reference number 85001274). The property covers about 0.3 acres. Coordinates: about 41.8733°N, 87.6569°W.
