Run All Night (film)
Run All Night is a 2015 American action thriller directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and written by Brad Ingelsby. It stars Liam Neeson as a former mob hitman, Joel Kinnaman as his son, and features Ed Harris and Common. The story follows a father who must protect his estranged son and family when a past crime pulls them into a deadly mob conflict.
Plot
Jimmy “The Gravedigger” Conlon is an aging, troubled hitman for the Irish mob. His son, Mike, is a chauffeur who runs a boxing gym and is trying to live a good life with his own family, including his two daughters. After Jimmy’s latest violent action, he is forced to help his boss Shawn Maguire’s son, Danny, who double-crosses Albanian criminals. Danny’s killing is witnessed by Mike, who becomes a target. When Danny tries to kill Mike, Jimmy intervenes and kills Danny, setting off a deadly feud with Shawn. To protect Mike and his family, Jimmy takes them to a remote cabin while he tries to clear his name. A series of confrontations with cops, hitmen, and mobsters follows, culminating in a final showdown where Jimmy sacrifices himself to save Mike’s family, while Mike starts a new, safer life with his wife and children.

Production
- In 2012, Warner Bros. bought Brad Ingelsby’s script The All-Nighter for a six-figure sum.
- Liam Neeson joined the project in early 2013, and Jaume Collet-Serra became the director. The title was changed to Run All Night.
- Principal photography began on October 3, 2013.
Music
- Junkie XL (Tom Holkenborg) composed the film’s score, aiming for an emotional approach to the action.
- The score was recorded with a 70-piece string orchestra and a large brass section. A soundtrack album was released on March 10, 2015.
Release and reception
- Run All Night was released in the United States on March 13, 2015.
- It grossed about $71.6 million worldwide against a budget of roughly $50 million.
