Mynever Shuteriqi
Mynever Shuteriqi (born Mynever Fico; June 21, 1924 – November 20, 2024) was an Albanian writer and academician. She was the wife of historian and writer Dhimitër Shuteriqi and the grandmother of politician Ben Blushi.
Early life
Mynever was born in Gjirokastër, Albania. Her father was a forester. When she was two, her family moved to several Albanian towns, including Lushnjë, Elbasan, and Delvinë, where she learned Greek. At 17, she joined the partisan movement but was not accepted because of her age, and she was arrested twice.
Education
In the 1940s she studied at the Queen Mother Pedagogical Institute, where she learned Italian and French and began piano lessons. It was here that she developed a desire to become a poet and writer.
Career
After finishing university, Mynever became a lecturer in the journalism department in Tirana. She translated and published many novels and short stories in multiple languages, often focusing on biographical works and her own memories.
Personal life and death
In 1940 she married historian Dhimitër Shuteriqi in Elbasan. They had three children. Dhimitër died in 2003, and in 2008 Mynever published an autobiographical book about him called Një jetë në dashuri (A Life in Love). She lived to be 100 years old, turning 100 on June 21, 2024, and died on November 20, 2024, in Tirana, Albania.
Family
Her grandson is Albanian politician and writer Ben Blushi.
