Mohammed Ghazy Al-Akhras (Arabic: محمد غازي الأخرس; born June 17, 1967) is an Iraqi writer and journalist. He shares moderate political and social opinions through his daily column in Al Sabaah and a TV program on al-Hurra called Abwab, which means “doors.”

He has written several books about the Arab world’s cultural life, especially in Iraq. His best-known work is Khareef al-Muthaqqaf al-Iraqi (The Fall of the Iraqi Intellectual), which caused controversy and received both praise and criticism.

In 2012, Al-Akhras, who comes from a Shiite family, helped start a campaign urging Ahmed al-Kubaisy, a well-known Iraqi Sunni cleric, to return to Iraq after rumors that Gulf states wanted to deport him because of his moderate views on unrest in the region.
