Massa (river)

The Massa is a short river in Switzerland, about 7 kilometers long. It runs in the eastern Bernese Alps in the canton of Valais. The river is mainly fed by meltwater from the Aletsch Glacier. It flows through the Massa Gorge, then into the Gibidum reservoir, and finally joins the Rhône River. The surrounding area, along with other glaciers, is part of the Jungfrau-Aletsch Protected Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001.
