Liangxiang Town, Beijing
Liangxiang is a town in Fangshan District, Beijing, China. It sits about 25 kilometers southwest of central Beijing. The town covers 26.11 square kilometers and had a population of 24,317 in 2020. It borders Gongchen Subdistrict to the north, Changyang Town to the east, Doudian Town to the south, and Yancun Town to the west.
History in brief
- Liangxiang dates back to the Qin dynasty (221–206 BCE) as a county. Its name comes from a saying meaning “people and goods gather in Liang,” reflecting its long history of trade and activity.
- In 1958, Liangxiang County merged with Fangshan County and became Liangxiang Town. In 2002, it merged with Guandao Town, making Liangxiang the political and economic center of Fangshan District.
Infrastructure and services
- Liangxiang is served by major roads, including the 6th Ring Road and the Beijing–Hong Kong–Macau Expressway (G4). A small military airport is nearby, northwest of the town exits.
- The area has basic facilities such as post offices, telecom offices, two day-care centers, 14 primary and secondary schools, and a hospital.
- In recent years, several universities opened campuses in Liangxiang’s new University Town, including Capital Normal University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Capital University of Medical Sciences, and Beijing Technology and Business University, hosting over 100,000 students.
Transport
- Public transit has improved with the Fangshan line of Beijing Subway, which has four stations in Liangxiang: Liangxiang Nanguan, Liangxiang University Town North, Liangxiang University Town, and Liangxiang University Town West.
- The Beijing–Guangzhou Railway passes through Liangxiang, and Liangxiang railway station serves the area.
- Bus routes 616, 646, and 917 connect Liangxiang to Beijing city center.

- Notable sites include Haotian Pagoda, Yue Yi Tomb, Liangxiang Confucius Temple (Wenmiao), and Xiuyunguan (Xiuyuan Palace).
