Chùa Bồ Đề (Philadelphia)
Chùa Bồ Đề, also known as the Bồ Đề Buddhist Temple, is a Vietnamese Buddhist temple in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It opened on Christmas Day in 1994 after Vietnamese immigrants from the Asian American Buddhist Association of Philadelphia raised $130,000 to buy the vacant Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz. It became Philadelphia’s first Vietnamese Buddhist temple. In 1995, a resident monk was murdered, which delayed renovations to the building until the end of 1997.
