Boxing at the 2015 European Games
The boxing competition at the 2015 European Games took place from June 16 to June 27 at Baku Crystal Hall in Baku, Azerbaijan. A total of 278 boxers competed (211 men and 67 women) representing 40 countries. The event featured 15 weight categories in total: 10 for men and 5 for women, following the Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) rules used in the Olympics.
This event also served as the first European qualification event for the 2016 World Boxing Championships. The finalists, along with the bronze medalist who lost to the eventual champion, earned quota places for their country at the World Championships.
Qualification details
- Each nation could enter at most one boxer per weight category.
- For the women’s events, qualification was based on results from the 2014 Women's European Amateur Boxing Championships in Bucharest, with European rankings established by June 30, 2014. If a country had more than one athlete in the top rankings, the next-best country received the allocation. Two additional spots per weight category were reserved for universality and host nominations.
- Azerbaijan, as host, had nominations available in each weight category.
