Areej Al Hammadi
Areej Ahmed Mohammed Salim Al Hammadi, born on February 13, 1986, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is an Emirati footballer who plays as a midfielder, forward, and winger. She currently plays for Precision Football and is considered one of the UAE’s most influential women in the sport.
Club career: Areej began playing with her family and university teams before moving into professional football. She has played for clubs including Al Wahda, Abu Dhabi Country Club (notably in the 2019 WAFF Women’s Clubs Championship in Aqaba, Jordan, where she scored a brace in a group game), Onyx FC, and Precision Football. She also competed in Neymar Jr’s Five with the Fuelees team.
International career: Areej earned her first cap for the United Arab Emirates in August 2015. She has played in the Aphrodite Cup in Cyprus (2015), the 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualification in Tajikistan, and the 2019 WAFF Women’s Championship in Bahrain, and took part in the 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualification. She has 41 caps and 1 goal for the UAE national team as of May 27, 2024, and has also trained with the UAE national futsal team.
Records: Areej holds two Guinness World Records in sports, including a Hot Stepping record set in 2020.
