Archontophoenix purpurea
Archontophoenix purpurea, or Mount Lewis king palm, is a solitary palm native to Queensland, Australia. It grows mainly in rainforest habitats. The plant belongs to the palm family (Arecaceae) and the Archontophoenix genus. A distinctive feature is its purple crownshaft, visible in many images of the species. Archontophoenix purpurea was described in 1994 by Donald R. Hodel and John L. Dowe.
