Alain St Ange
Alain St Ange (born 24 October 1954) is a Seychellois politician and author. He served as Seychelles' Minister for Tourism and Culture from 2012 to 2016, and then as Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine until December 2016. He helped found the Vanilla Islands and was its first president. He is the President of the African Tourism Board and leads the One Seychelles political party.
Career highlights:
- Worked in tourism since 2009; appointed Director of Marketing under President James Michel and then became CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board.
- In 2012, after a cabinet reshuffle, became Minister of Tourism and Culture.
- In 2016, took on responsibilities as Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports & Marine.
- Resigned on 28 December 2016 to pursue the position of Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO); the bid was withdrawn on 9 May 2017 after African Union support for Walter Mzembi.
Current role:
- President of the One Seychelles party.
